today we are reviewing the frat boy by

Nikki Sloan you are reviewing I am

witnessing because based on what you've

told me it is Zach and Mary make a porno

with

the HOA

somehow question

um it's a

journey F and I this is why I love Nikki

Sloan it's always a journey it always is

yeah she's Dependable in that way yeah

cuz which book did we do in the first

season um was it it was

like it was the blindfold Club was the

series it was the first book and like

three simple rules or something like

that which makes me think of eight

simple rules for dating my teenage

daughter a which makes me think of John

Ritter rip oh sorry yeah that was a very

depressing game of free

association you're like okay I'll free

associate and then you're like oh oh oh

I was like oh

damn um yeah it's like three simple

rules or something like that we we

reviewed that one in the first season

this is only the second Nikki Sloan book

we've reviewed I've read several series

um some of

them

are like I'm I'm going to be honest I

I'm I try and be like really open-minded

and there are some that I'm like you

know like maybe like the Kink they're

exploring in that book isn't for me as

much but like I love that that works for

them and that other people have that

content to read um but her her books are

all like very sex heavy there's

definitely a wide variety of

presentations as far as like what people

are into there was one whole book where

um like the couple shared like a tum

board back in the

day dating the book a little bit and

ourselves um but like she would put back

when there was a ton of explicit content

on Tumblr before they took it down um

but she would like post like things that

she may be into trying on the board and

so that was kind of how they

like not fully approached consent but

like if he was like going to try

something and she'd be like a little

nervous he'd be like well you did like

post it on you put it on board so I

thought like is that is that not what

we're doing here regardless that's not

the book that we're here to review today

no no it's not no and I said regardless

I was telling Vance one of my pet peeves

is when people say irregardless yeah and

so a few days ago he was saying

something and he goes ear regardless and

I go you mean regardless and he goes I

chose my words intentionally Chelsea

oh I was like you chose your fake word

intentionally

Advance that's one of those where it's

like

yes I was like I see I see what's

happening here he knows too

much I love him he can have all the

power no all

right I heard it I heard it after I said

it oh my God we're doing a great job

already I'm so excited okay so the book

I'm so excited prologue oh we open with

Madison um this book takes place so so

this series is called the Nashville

neighborhood this is actually the fourth

book in the series they're all

Standalone of people in the same

neighborhood that's like a really like

bougie affluent neighborhood in

Nashville the first book is

like like the taboo is he starts dating

his like this like 40-year-old doctor

starts dating his like son's

ex-girlfriend kind of like yeah yeah

yeah um so this is the fourth book in

the series The Nashville neighborhood we

open with Madison and she is at the

airport giving a very tearful goodbye to

her College boyfriend that she's been

with for 2 years because he is about to

go on a semester abroad and um she is

like this is a really great opportunity

but I really love them and I'm like

going to be really sad that he's gone

yeah um all I can think is he's going to

get that European strange she just

doesn't know it yet um actually not even

European strange she always went for

some Georgian um America Georgia not

country Georgia

okay yeah like a girl who was on um the

who was also spending her semester

abroad oh I was like he went to Georgia

and that was his his study abroad no no

no no no no I oh your face makes way

more sense now like why does she look so

confused um I need that on a t-shirt my

face makes way more sense now like okay

context matters no so he went to Germany

for a semester abroad um took like 3

weeks of being homesick before he fell

into the arms of another student who was

also feeling homesick who went to

ug um and then they started dating or

whatever I don't know um but at the

start of the book we are at Greek week

which is I I think around like spring

break it like it would seem like April

is if I'm remembering correctly um and

and her Madison's ex-boyfriend Jack got

back I think in like January so it's

four months later she hasn't really seen

them she knows though they're broken she

knows they are broken up he had been

dating what whatever girl and she was

just like moving on with her life so

Greek week they do what like a Fidelity

Cup Tournament um and they go to

Davidson university which is not a real

University in Nashville noted but they

it's funny because there are like other

books in the series where they're like

like he goes to Vanderbilt and I'm like

well that's a real one so some of them

are real some of them right aren't um

but they have this Fidelity Cup

Tournament and it's like a full week of

all of the Greek houses all of the frats

all of the sororities all doing this

tournament and the Fidelity cup is like

this final the final piece it's like a

big almost like mudrun relay race baton

race and whoever wins this wins the

Fidelity cup and they get a cash prize

and um it is a m Madison is in the

sorority I was not in Greek life and I

will [ __ ] up any of the sorority or frat

names they do refer to the Frat as the

sigs the whole time so that it will be

easy enough um or

I

I I don't know I didn't I I was never in

Greek life so like sometimes I like look

at the I'm like which because I feel

like they all have

Sigma data what Sig data Delta see Point

proven nailed it thriving um but I feel

like often times like they all have

three but then like one is like like

Signa Delta I'm not going to try Epsilon

but then they're like oh we're the EPs

and you're like wait what I why aren't

you the sigs right I don't and that's

none of it makes sense I mean oh no I

mean like I was not in Greek

life but a lot of the girls on my

freshman Hall were and so it was very

much like going through Rush with them

yeah because they talked about it

constantly I never went to a school that

had sororities or fraternities so I like

I never had any exposure right just by

the nature of the schools I went to so I

think that's where I'm like tell me

everything I don't know you should watch

Bama Rush on HBO um so ironically the

first Bama um Rush video that had gone

viral like a decade ago one of my former

youth students was the videographer on

he was at B at the time I think he was a

student at the time I like he did a

great job on it it's a bunch of white

girls that's not his fault right well

that is addressed in the

documentary I'm assuming at length yeah

little bit little bit yeah um at least

I'm pretty like I remember him like

posting like didn't expect my project to

go viral kind of like like that energy

yeah okay regardless the Fidelity cup

yes I'm going to try and stay on Focus

today okay I'll try to help it's not

where I thrive no it's not where I

thrive no but I maybe if we use the

single brain cell that we share together

we can make that happen one brain cell

combined um so it's Madison sorority and

it's her ex is fraternity oh no yes and

so but like she hasn't seen him and

luckily like so far they haven't been in

the same competition so she hasn't

really seen him this whole week um but

are they so are his fraternity and her

sorority like working together for the

cup they are competing they are the

final frat they are the final sority and

whoever wins gets the cash prize and the

trophy so Madison gets all set up at her

station and that's where we meet Colin

Novak who she's like oh yeah I've seen

him around he takes a different girl

into his room at every single party like

that's just kind of his energy yeah um

and like the ref is there and they're

all just kind of like hanging out and

waiting for for people to come over so I

guess the people before them in the race

had to like climb up a rope wall drop

down hand off the Baton so the the Frat

was doing it faster and Colin is taking

off the girl for the sorority drops down

and the the guy who'd come down for the

Frat who handed off to Colin his name is

Riley he takes the the girl's baton and

Chucks it like throws into the woods and

so Madison's like what the [ __ ] so like

she runs and goes to get it at least I

like once again I might not be getting

this right who gives a [ __ ] that's not

we're not here for accuracy we're not

here for that I'm still waiting for the

HOA you're going to wait a while for the

ho stuck on it so bad you are stuck on

it you shouldn't have told me that is

the carot dangled and you're like how

how do fratz and porn have to do with

the HOA help

me we'll get what a

mystery um so Madison gets the Baton

starts booking it and it's like about

it's like winning and Colin manages to

like Sprint at the very end and like

beats her and so she's huffing and

puffing and she's like they cheated and

everyone's like what are you talking

about she's like he threw my baton um

and and the girl who had hand she's like

I had just like fell off the wall coming

down she's like I actually didn't see I

like can't back you up like oh and the

guy he's like no you dropped the Baton I

don't know what you're talking about and

so she looks at the ref and the ref is

like yeah you dropped the

Baton and she's like I [ __ ] didn't

drop the Baton and we don't know quite

what happens but she's like there's like

a little like this is like the last time

no one believed me kind of where you're

like just that little teaser yeah like

uhoh mhm and so she's getting more and

more upset and then Colin comes up and

is like what's going on and she's like

y'all cheated you didn't win and he's

like yeah we did did you not see me beat

you over the finish line and she's like

you didn't he threw it um and so Colin

is getting more heated as well and she's

like y'all cheated and Colin in front of

everyone goes pretty sure that's your

thing from what Jack

said yeah oh Colin no oh yeah yeah

that's Colin definitely like has a habit

of like maybe going a sentence or two

too far and then being like oops yes and

so she is mortified and humiliated and

so she just picks up mud and [ __ ]

throws it at his face good for her so he

picks up mud to throw it at her face but

misses and and hits the girl next to her

karma which starts a fullon braw yeah

mud fight everyone there is is joining

in she sees the cup over on the table

she's like and Colin is like that's not

your [ __ ] cup that's our [ __ ] cup

and so he starts like chasing her she

grabs the cup he grabs the other side

they get in a tug-of war over the

Fidelity cup okay the handle breaks off

he falls back the cup gets destroyed

nice yes and then everyone's like oh

[ __ ] this

is is this one of those symbols that's

like somehow sacred and no one knows why

I think it's a little bit I think it's

just more of like the like I think it's

an honor to win also this would be the

first time that I think the fraternity

had won in like not the fraternity the

sorority had won in like 50 years or

something so it was more what it

represented to them I think than like

that the cup was extra special um but

enough that I think people were like oh

[ __ ] has gone horribly sideways right

here how did we get here yeah so then

there's like a a all

chapter meeting that like the board

calls after all of this that um not

really important to the plot but like

Colin got the location wrong and a

sorority girl was like Oh I thought it

was here too and she's like they're like

oh apparently it's in this Hall so as

they're walking across campus together

to get to the other Hall she says

something and he's like oh wait have we

[ __ ] and she's like you're such a pig

it didn't I I don't remember it either

it didn't matter to me and he's like I

don't really believe that and he's like

but I do feel a little bad that I don't

even remember that like I [ __ ] this

girl Colin has [ __ ] Madison or the

friend the random girl that he's walking

across campus with who like also like

was late to the meeting yeah and like

and doesn't remember her like that's the

level of like

where yeah well and what's funny is

we've done reviews before where that's

the energy but she is the girl that he

slept with before and she is the love

interest now nope and he's like oh balls

nope this is just entirely he used to

[ __ ] a lot of girls and can't remember

all of them so Nikki is just reinforcing

that he's a bit of a

Manor his prerogative yeah good for him

yeah as long as everybody's consenting

right 1,000% yeah

um so the the council the board over all

of Greek life at their

University the pan helenic Council in

case you wondering the what pan helenic

Council panh helenic

yeah they don't use that word in this

book I'm just going to

say cuz I feel like that's one that I

would have highlighted and like looked

up right you know huh okay the pan

helenic board um they're like we're

holding both the Frat and the sority

responsible no one is getting the prize

money which you find out that like the

Frat was actually going to do like one

of like their frat brothers like his mom

had cancer and like they so they were

had been planning on the money to them

um and they're like there's no prize

money y'all can't compete and or you you

can't be in the like in the Fidelity cup

and you can't be in like rush for you're

on probation for a year and you can't

participate for like 5 years or like

some [ __ ] like that and everyone's like

well that's not be Hasty now like why

are so someone raises their hand and

like why are we all being held

responsible when there were there were

some members who yeah so pretty much the

Frat and sority decide they're going to

sacrifice Colin and

Madison so that they don't have to have

any F further punishment the board is

like okay if if you get rid of

them you guys can like keep doing what

you're doing yeah um but they were also

both living in frat and like sity

housing right so they are both like

going to be out of a place to live

within a week and are desperately trying

to find a place um like I think it was

like the book said that meeting was on

like a third was on a Tuesday and

Madison's like I had until Friday to

find a new place because they're so

benevolent um right so like she's like

desperate where she is like do I have

sorority sisters who have family members

in town that like like that literally

anybody yeah is there a bulletin board

somewhere yeah because we also find out

um Madison does not have a relationship

with her family oh yeah um which does

minimal come into play um in the future

but she she can't reach out to anyone

for support she's very much like in

Nashville on her own yeah um

so Madison replies to an ad for um a for

housing that's like the job and housing

included um I'm like I wonder what this

ad said yeah the job the job is a porn

star so essentially there is a couple

who own a porn production company and

they use part of their giant mansion to

like shoot this and they have some of

the people who work for them stay at

their house um and it's like essentially

like cool four videos equals your rent

if you want to do more you get cash in

your pocket but like room is in board is

included if is it room or is a board

it's room yeah okay yeah I I I said room

and then I paused and I went board then

I went no no that one no you were right

the first time yeah yes um so goes to

meet we meet Nina um Nina and her

husband Scott own pedal Productions okay

they are actually they have um their own

little Nolla called I think it's called

it takes to could be wrong on that um

but I feel 95% confident it's the

prequel to The blindfold Club why are

you laughing at me no I'm not laughing

at you I'm laughing at myself because

you said they own a porn production

company and then you said they have

their own little Noel and I was like a

tel

Nolla like I had a really hard time and

then I was like oh she means a book yes

Nikki Sloan has written like a I want to

say it's like 50 to 80 Pages um I

literally was like oh nah is Hispanic

okay she might be we speaking Spanish

you're like okay you're like honestly we

probably need more cultural

representation on this podcast yeah I I

was just following that obviously

they're Spanish speaking and we're doing

a tel Nolla and they also record porn I

was like fully tracked for that you're

like I see Zero plot holes that could

present themselves I'm I'm with

it um oh God and well and so Nina is

like yeah my husband is Scott Westwood

and Madison was like cool and he was

like so you clearly don't watch a lot of

porn he's very well-known he's like

number one porn guy um what a thing to

brag about for your

husband being very successful porn stars

who own your own production company I'd

brag well like number one porn guy

that's my husband that was my wording

she did not refer number one porn

guy like of course you think think that

nah like yeah he's your husband way to

Hype him no like that's true love it is

they're both very successful very

wellknown my husband and I not specific

to porn stars we were having a

conversation recently about where it's

really interesting where there's just

like we were watching um the glowup show

on Netflix like The Makeup competition

show but it's funny to me because

they'll bring these people on and

they're like here's this person as a

guest judge and everyone gasps right

they're like there here and I'm like who

is that person I've never heard of them

before so it's so funny to me like how

people can be very famous and very

wellknown within a very

specific audience yeah um and that's

what made it that's what it made me

think of with Scott and yeah cuz I'm

like you know yeah I guess in your

industry you are really well known and

if you don't watch a lot of porn you

wouldn't know you wouldn't know who he

is so have you seen the documentary life

after porn no highly recommend

it's about retired porn stars I watched

it years ago but it was on Netflix um

hopefully it's still there but it was

fascinating like truly fascinating MH um

because it went way back to like porn

stars in the 70s and 80s and like where

are they now and how are they doing and

then like more um contemporary porn

stars that e chose to retire or are on

Hiatus and it was like very

interesting like yeah very weird

like I didn't

realize yeah I just didn't realize it

was a lot I was like oh okay all right

like they talk about navigating

relationships they talk about trying to

raise kids like yeah it was really good

that is that sounds like a very

fascinating premise I would be very

intrigued to watch that 1 th% but I

thought of that because somebody a a

patient years ago said the name of a

porn star in some regard and I was like

yep and he was

like you know who that is and I was like

yep and then I realized oh no you know

for different reasons I was like um

you're like yeah I watched a documentary

about her and he's like oh that's that's

not what I know her from is that what

we're calling it

like oh yeah documentary I still think

about that

sometimes like oh yeah I'm super

familiar with her and he's

like just like took a beat and was like

I just learned a lot about my therapist

like okay that's so funny so Madison is

meeting with Nina yes and they're like

okay if it goes well um with us meeting

then Nina's like come back you'll come

back to the house and then I'll have you

audition um what does a porn audition

consist

of [ __ ] Scott well like the funny

thing is Nina goes yeah I think Scott is

like auditioning someone as well tonight

and Madison's like oh like we'd both be

new at it and n's like oh like I mean

like you can [ __ ] Scott instead and and

then she's like I could [ __ ] your

husband like she's like she's like o I

don't I don't know if I'd rather like

[ __ ] your hus and then youa goes I need

to like explain something a lot of

people would pay a lot of money to get

to [ __ ] my husband and I'm going to pay

you to [ __ ] like like just like helping

you conceptualize this and she she's

like if you're not comfortable you can

it can be the other person but just like

funny because Madison's whole thing is

she's like yeah like I thought I was

going to come to college I thought I was

like going to be the sexually liberated

person and have all these experiences

she's like and then I spent two years

dating a [ __ ] fra R Who broke my

heart and so now she's like it's my time

to shine maybe it's my time to like

actually get to like explore and

experience all the things that like I

said I wanted to and that I have an

interest in so she's like okay like but

she's just like reconciling that but it

feels like in an actually like true way

yeah because if they just like yeah

we're auditioning someone else who in

their right mind who's never done porn

before okay no problem like right well

maybe people I don't I'm not trying to

be an [ __ ] I mean maybe but I mean I

think there's I think there's an element

for me cuz we're looking at this is in

the South there is a certain amount of

Purity culture that

is drilled into US certainly was for me

growing up like this idea of Purity

culture and what it means um if you're a

woman who enjoys having sex or has sex

with people she doesn't know well or

whatever like that means something about

your character yes and so I could see

how this is like she wants to be

liberated and is potentially like

wrestling with that that Purity culture

like

ideal I think that might be giving the

scene more credit than it's but I don't

I I am 100% tracking with your logic

yeah and I don't think it's like that

like conscious or like that big of a

battle or debate just so much of like oh

saying I would be open to these things

is very different than like being

presented with the opportunities and

like M how do I reconcile that

difference yeah um so Madison goes back

to the house with nah to audition and

then she like you hear Scott like

telling a story and and she's like oh

that must be like Scott now so Scott

walks in and lo and hold lo lo and

behold who walks in behind him Hannah is

it Colin it is Colin oh my stars it's

not the ex-boyfriend wouldn't that have

been a weird plot twist yikes yeah no

it's Colin super hot Colin right super

hot col yeah um and as soon as like they

walk in and like Madison Colin and see

other they're like oh like you guys know

each other and like I guess you could

say that like don't give any context and

they just very

like oh like like don't [ __ ] this up for

me I need a place to live but also [ __ ]

you I hate you and both of them are

feeling that like like cuz it is um dual

point of view between them most of the

time I don't think it really necessarily

matters for how we're like communicating

about the book today it is one of those

where like Colin actually says that he's

like why is she here like I need to

communicate with her like not to [ __ ]

with this up for me because really need

it and she's like I also really like if

he Fox this up I will kill him neither

of us are here because it was our first

choice well it might be something that

we have an interest in this wasn't on

Tuesday before the Greek meeting this

wasn't where we thought our week was

ending up you know yeah um and so

they're like they sign their like their

contracts and um they're just kind of

given the rundown of um like protection

and and that sort of thing but they're

like we do have like a company policy

see um petal Productions is a

woman-owned company and we like Market

more towards women like the straight M

gaze is not our like Target demographic

every orgasm is real it's like there

like no orgasms are faked in our videos

H okay yeah um and Colin is like don't

worry hers will be like say and like

Madison is kind of like like laughs

right cuz col is like so and she's like

oh he seems a little overconfident I

think I think that's like like the

confidence of a college

age straight man to be like I could do

porn like I feel like a lot of them

believe that will actually come into

play later in the book and it's like

sweetheart no you can't like no you

can't

no um like oh I I understand why they

would need to do auditions though maybe

you could still do porn yeah just

like is it um public like is it freely

accessible Public Access like is there

point that you're like yeah I'd watch

that I wouldn't pay for it but I'd watch

it good point yeah good point um so the

scene starts between them and Madison's

whole energy is exactly it's very much

this like well I hate his guts he is

very good-looking right um and there's

just like this like level of aggression

and animosity that's like super funny

because like nah like they have coms in

their ears and Nina's like tell him to

touch you and Matt's like put your

[ __ ] hands on my

body at least that's how I interpreted

it right um but like like hurry the [ __ ]

up I'm already over it yeah all of the

conversation like at one point he's like

I'm going to make you come so hard she's

like then [ __ ] do it

already

but the whole time it like it continues

to be like he is a cocky jerk but like

godamn that feels good and he knows how

to use both of our bodies and right I'm

feeling very conflicted in this moment

right um my notes say ultimately she

comes so hard she

collapses she like what position were

they in that she

collapses it doesn't matter well the

threat throughout like he makes her

tremble like she just like so around of

trembling

sure big tremble girl big time tremble

girl

um but it's still super hot they like it

it like even it like there's like some

like aggression like both of them are

just competitive and she's not really

willing to like relent but it's still

super hot even though like afterwards

Nina's like so that was interesting I

wouldn't say we have uh content like

that in our library right now it's kind

of like the energy of it

but he goes to kiss her at the end of

the scene and she's like no like won't

let him kiss her and he gets like he's

like I mean like I respect your rules

but like the [ __ ] like that was like

super hot and I was into it and it was

kind of like the end and like he plays

it off but it's kind of like okay that

was weird um they nailed their audition

sounds it right um if you he certainly

did yeah yeah if you can make her

collapse from

orgasming one would think you have

succeeded yeah yeah they get their

formal offers um and then as I said it's

like kind of like okay so like four

videos will equal your rent for the

month um they're like we can double up

if we were doing like multiple scenes in

one day if you have like a really like

heavy semester um we can prepay

essentially yeah it's like okay if well

if you think of like one video a month

but you're like well we just shot a

scene together and if another person

comes in and we all have another

orgasm

what a timesaver right you know there

you go yeah I'm like so you [ __ ] like

hypothetically yeah you could [ __ ] twice

a month and have free

rent right like it's not

bad it's pretty good for one of the

nicest neighborhoods in Nashville

apparently right um they as they are

moving in I was just thinking in this

economy in this economy well sign me up

you're about to learn more about the HOA

maybe maybe we'll see how we feel right

oh no as they are um like moving in and

kind of getting settled Scott tells both

Madison and Colin he's like hey yeah um

also like if anyone asks y'all are part

of the mentorship program they're like

what he's like yeah the HOA like you

can't like rent and so we like got a

special allowance because we're helping

at risk college students by giving them

discount like we have a mentorship

program for at rest college kids um is

what they've sold to the HOA president I

mean

technically where's the

lie just maybe mentoring in a different

way yeah not the leadership skills you

were anticipating we would build um but

Madison is also like okay well like I'll

be helpful and like I want to like earn

my place here she she's like oh I'll

roll the bins up it's like garbage days

tomorrow I'll roll the bins up and

Scott's like no no no no no it's not

after dark yet if we roll the bins up

before dusk we get

fined yeah and madis like what the [ __ ]

and they're like yeah um the HOA

president is just kind of like on one

and we all just kind of like roll our

eyes and put up with her then Colin's

like oh yeah I remember her well because

Colin the doctor from the first book

which is called the doctor Dr low um his

son Preston um who he's dating Preston's

ex-girlfriend Preston and Colin went to

high school together and have been best

friends for a long time and at one point

like Colin got into some [ __ ] with his

family he stayed with the Lowe's for a

couple weeks um and he's like oh yeah I

remember [ __ ] Judy with the HOA

because she had a heart on for Dr low

and when he went for someone who was not

able to legally drink instead of her she

uh did not handle it well so Colin's

like oh

yeah I I'm aware of like she's on she's

on radar already yeah um but it's also

funny because we meet Abby and jquan who

are the two other people they they have

four rooms in the house they're like

yeah we like to have all four rooms

filled so there are six of us every

Monday night we meet and Pitch scripts

and ideas and just like our little

family and Community with it um but it's

also funny as Madison is like adjusting

to their like the more openly sexual

nature like she walks in the kitchen and

like meets jauan for the first time and

he's like great to meet you want to [ __ ]

after breakfast and she's like rain

check he's like sounds

good and she's just like this is a lot

and I think he's like yeah I'm going to

go do like a Joi and she's like what the

what's a Joi someone was like jerk off

instructions and she's like I don't know

anything about this industry I just

needed a place to live and I'm very

sexually

open what is your face saying jerk off

instructions I've never watched a Joi

video me

either makes me ious yeah I

don't I don't know if I would be able to

suspend

belief if like you are just W like

you're masturbating and you are giving

instructions to someone on how you want

them to like I don't know I don't know

don't know I think I'm comfortable with

professor and she is trying to seduce

her professor to to get a better grade

and like the The Reluctant like she's

on this one right and so Colin is just

actively avoiding her but she knows she

apologize and make it right and it

happens to be at a cafe near campus and

sees Colin sitting there with his

dad and is like over hearing part of

their conversation and she quickly

realizes Colin has not told his dad that

he's no longer in the Frat and that he's

no longer a Sig and no longer living in

housing because his dad is like oh yeah

like after this like just throw your

bike in the back of my car and I'll

drive you back to the Sig house like

it's been so long since I've seen it um

and Madison is like oh like I I don't

like him but like she and she's like I

don't know what we are to each other if

we're co-workers if we're peers and

she's like but like I can clearly help

him out here so she walks

up um and saves them and is like oh like

some guy's bothering me can you walk me

to my class and it's Dad is like no

problem just like when you're done and

she's like oh no sorry it's like at that

Hall all the way across campus that like

it's like a 15-minute walk each way um

and so when they leave Colin is like

okay well like

she starts turning the other way and

con's like we need to go that way for

your class right and she's like oh no I

don't have a class over there I just

knew you needed the the help um and

needed the the Saving right and but then

she also tells him outside during that

conversation she's like I want to tell

you why I didn't kiss you and she's like

I know how I feel about the other people

in our house and she's like so there's

it's not confusing I know exactly how I

how I'd feel if I kissed you and and if

that would complicate things and I know

we both need our jobs and we both need

our housing and I don't want to like

oh and her dad also took all of her

College savings that she had saved up oh

for herself yes so like she is doing it

on her own right truly um and I think

this is where we also learn where like

Colin is pretty much like always on

probation with his parents like his

parents went out of town he threw a

rager his senior year like prom

something like that right and his

parents came home found him [ __ ] a

girl on their bed nice kicked him out

and it's pretty much always been like

okay well

like we we accept you back on a trial

basis but like you can't [ __ ] up again

and so he spent the last several years

trying to like really please his parents

as well so we we're just learning more

about those Dynamics but then she's also

says to him like do you believe me about

the Fidelity cup like it's really

important to me that that you believe me

and he's kind of like it's months later

and she is still talking about this he

like she wasn't lying was she he's like

if

she like actually is still saying this

like oh [ __ ] like there's a lot of like

validity to this um so both of them

essentially are coming into this with a

history of

like very conditional love very

dismissive mhm kind of energy from their

parents yeah and so I can see like these

would both like it sounds like both of

them are are guarded in different ways

and so that's part of the conflict

between the two of them when also just

like I don't know [ __ ] my level of

self-awareness at 21 yeah like I think

at Mo like Colin is 23 in this book like

I'm like your level of like a awareness

and there are things that like I didn't

know about myself until this last year

and I'm in my 30s right and just like

that so it's just so much to nav like

the hormones the un certainty you are

preparing to launch yourself into the

world as an adult like there's just so

many Dynamics at play in that there's so

much pressure of like you have to pick

your career and it's for life like don't

[ __ ] it up and like well and I graduated

high school with my associates already

done yeah so when I started college I

was literally having a jump directly

into a major and I was on the young side

of of my class exactly as you were right

and so being 17 and being like I need to

pick the major for what I for for the

career for my life trajectory I have to

choose this at 17 was that pressure that

I felt in that moment yeah well and it's

funny cuz every time you and I like talk

about stuff like this I realize how

similar like our stories are because I

graduated high school at 17 and I had

done dual enrollment for 2 years and so

I spent 3 years in my undergrad because

I changed my major so many times but I

was in my masters by 20 and done with it

by 22 Yeah like you guys I don't know

why I was in such a rush but for some

reason I felt this pressure like I had

to like do it really fast yes and then I

got out and was like who the [ __ ] said

this was a good idea every well and I

think the thing that sh out to me is

like I felt like I was behind like I

finished my bachelor's at 19

started my masters at 20 finished my

masters at at 22 the exact same and I

remember

like getting to my job and being like

I'm behind y like and get but then

everyone else being there and being like

you are a child they were like you are

so young um and brand new to the field

but like that pressure that I had put on

myself in that season and everyone else

is

like yeah we've been doing this for 15

years we don't expect you to know what

we know right but I was like no no no I

should know all of it yep immediately

like I should just already have it and

if I didn't retain it and like perfect

it yep then it was the Perfection for me

uhhuh yeah like a lot of like I well and

I think the Perfection for me I wanted

to be seen as capable yes yes and I

thought that if I made an error they

would no longer view me as capable very

black and white yes yes and so I think

like you know thinking about that season

of Life thinking about like the history

that were presented from them in this

book and then thinking about the

decisions that they're making like I can

imagine

being just a ball of anxiety I already

have anxiety now it was far worse when I

was younger like I can't

imagine trying to reconcile all of

that and also like navigate emotions

like yes no like when I look back on

like

everything that I was dealing with at

that age that like is a very common like

most 20-year-olds are kind of like

reconciling a lot of those things right

I'm like what expectations are we

putting our on ourselves I'm like this

is ridiculous yes okay and we can keep

talking about that cuz I actually have

far more

outside of a final because when he just

relay oh Elijah I think is his name

um and

so like Elijah considers Colin to be a

friend he's like hey man yeah like

what's up how'd you doing the final blah

blah blah Colin's like crushed it you

and the guy's like yeah I too crushed

that final like clearly is just like

wants Colin to like think he's he's cool

right but Colin is

like yeah so why did you do it why did

you lie and say that like Riley told the

truth

and Elijah totally confirms it like

doesn't deny it at all and he's like

well you know like you know how it is

like uh like wanted all of the sigs to

think he was cool because he' wanted to

be a Sig and Colin was like he was never

really our energy and so I had

encouraged him to rush another frat and

so he always thought we were good

friends because of that like always like

revered the sigs right and apparently at

one point he'd like hit on a girl in

Madison's sorority and she turned him

down so he like already didn't like the

going to go forward in front of the

conversation has has heard this whole

so then they start making out and then

Jack by the time they're done making out

Jack is no longer standing there right

how this played

out um and so then after they kind of

like work through that misunderstanding

like if timing weren't this we would

both be really into each other kind of

energy um which she understands it's

bummed about but understands and 3 weeks

later the whole house is kind of like

hanging out they've abstained they've

kind of just like have been floating and

existing around each other um but

they're all hanging out at the pool and

like he's on a float in the pool and

she's like working on her laptop and has

her sunglasses on and like staring at

him and he's like texting her and like

stop staring at me she's like you stop

staring at me like that kind of I don't

think that was actually her response

that might have been my response right

um but then they're also like really

excited for our seeing tomorrow and

they're both really excited because

they've been abstaining and now they're

like for the sake of work for the sake

of work we get to

[ __ ] in the name of our paycheck I

finally get to orgasm right cuz every

orgasm is

real um and the next day they do a whole

it's like a girl

swap scene where Madison's boyfriend is

jaquin Colin and Abby or Addie still

don't know whatever um yeah and like as

they start

swapping it's just like super funny

because she's very enthusiastic cuz

she's very excited like trying to stay

in the scene and is like keeps just like

eyes gravitating towards him it's like

yeah sure I'm like licking her [ __ ] but

I'm looking making eye contact with him

kind of the whole

time um which was endearing yeah it's

sweet

yeah I don't know if sweet's the word no

it's just funny because there's so much

like okay we finally get to

like be together um it's like I'm not

touching you I'm not touching you I'm

not touching you and now permission and

We're Off to the Races yes and like

they're still making out when like Scott

clears his throat and he's like guess

they didn't hear Nina call cut cuz like

they like didn't want the scene to end

right a yes um which I yeah I was like

that's endearing yeah you just had a

whole couple swap situation with this

very endearing moment after it yeah yeah

but I think that's nice though because

like so much of like poly or open

relationships gets like villainized or

made to be like not legitimate like you

don't actually care about your partner

because you're like open or because you

are into Polly stuff but like that's not

true no so that's kind of nice mhm um we

had some friends who were open but their

one their rule was kissing they're like

no you can't kiss someone else they're

like that is too intimate right yeah and

I'm like you know if that's what works

for you yeah and yeah was like I feel

like I would maybe need at least one or

two more like boundaries or rules set in

there than just like no kissing

um I just do well with structure yeah I

like to know the expectations yeah like

I can't tell you how many times I've

been at a job and they've been unclear

about something and I have like gone

into my supervisor like close to tears

from Rage of just like if you will tell

me the expectation I will meet it but if

I don't know the expectation I'm just

going to do whatever I want and you

can't tell me you don't like

it oh no I've definitely like been that

person where when there was an

expectation I didn't know it work and

then I didn't like meet it and then I

the scene Madison is in the kitchen and

like Colin walks in it's like a little

awkward because they're like what we

know we like each other but we can't

it's like what are we to each other kind

of energy Scott also comes in um

complaining that they're increasing the

HOA fees by 20% they have a they got a

fine that their mailbox didn't match the

rest of the neighborhood so they needed

to buy a $500 mailbox that was like they

had a $500 fine or maybe the mailbox

wasn't 500 the fine was 500 and then for

every month they didn't change their ma

their mailbox there' be an extra100 like

just like a lot of like arbitrary

[ __ ] yeah they were like cool can we

plant privacy hedges in front of our AC

units and they're like nope they have to

match they're like cool can we put up a

fence in front of it so no one even has

to [ __ ] see it nope they have to

match so they like ended up shelling out

money to change the other two units to

match the new one just like all of these

fees right um but then Colin ask Scott

he's like can we talk for a minute sc's

like yeah man and they leave and

Madison's like do you ever just feel

like a conversation's about you but you

don't know why right like that moment

for sure um Madison is then next scene

trying to think of scenes to pitch and

Colin walks in and he's like hey I have

a scene I need you to help me with

Nina's already approved it she's like

okay what is it and he's like it's prom

night you're a virgin it's our first

time together and she's like okay he's

like I thought you could wear that dress

that like formal gown that you have in

your closet that when they were like

preparing her room to shoot a scene he'd

seen it before and been like oh what's

that she's like oh you know well I

bought it for the formal but like

obviously never got a chance to wear it

so he's like you could wear that dress

that you have um and she's

like okay like this feels sure so she

like dresses up does the whole thing and

when she's walking down the stairs she's

like it feels like real prom Scott and

Nina are down there staring at us like

proud parents he's standing there like

they want to take photos of us before we

leave for the night and she's like this

feels weird interesting yeah yeah um

like Scott lets them drive his like nice

BMW for the night and he's like don't

don't do anything I wouldn't do in the

car then he's like actually but like

please don't in my

interior like that kind of not on the

leather lay a blanket down yes they end

up at a they go to a restaurant that

they're overdressed for like a nice

restaurant but they're overdressed and

when the waitress is like oh like any

like special occasion we're celebrating

Colin us like oh yeah we're on our first

date and Madison like realized she's

like wait he's not joking right this is

not a scene this is not a scene this is

a real yeah so he tells her he was

talking to Scott about what it's like

like making a Rel relationship work

dating a co-worker how you navigate that

kind of all that stuff like he did such

research he like brought names of like

porn couples that like are real couples

in real life that like make it work and

just like

really tried to bring her dat yeah that

they could do it

mhm um and then when she's like wait you

talked to Scott and like Scott knows and

he's like yeah they all know apparently

us being into each other is the worst

kept secret in the house everyone is

very aware this whole time right just

like our our unmitigated hatred and

animosity towards each other and then

suddenly like we can't keep our hands

off each other in a scene oh cuz that

was the other thing thing in the couple

swap scene um they like walk in the like

they just start making out like the

scene starts they start kissing and in

the earpiece and is like oh so I guess

we kiss now

like we went from like it being a hard

boundary to being like

Oh so so we worked some things out noted

yes um it's very sweet that he's like

doing all this to convince her and um

she is on board but then he's also like

Okay so we we do have a hotel room the

cameras are set up he's like we can

shoot the prom scene tonight or we can

have a night for ourselves yeah um and

shoot something in the morning to turn

in but

like pedal Productions is still paying

for the hotel so we probably do need to

shoot something at some point but we

don't like we can take the evening to

just like be ourselves

right they have a nice solidifying [ __ ]

a um I think we love a solidify we love

a solidifying [ __ ] and I but I think the

things that like I noted about this one

specifically were that like they kept

referencing they're like oh it's really

nice to like be together and like not

have to think about choreography or

camera positioning and like just being

able to like be present and he's like oh

when she says that feels so good and she

really likes it like it's not like for

the viewers it's like true and authentic

so that was the sweet side of the

solidifying [ __ ] was the like

oh this is just for us kind of

energy

um next plot

which is just on the street and they

were playing video games and on his way

back as he's like walking on the street

recognizes like a random he's like oh

yeah he's in like another frat I've seen

him around I think his name is Parker

and he's like that's weird like nothing

to do with it just like noted seems

weird um and he hears him say to Judy

like pleasure doing business with you

and he's like what does that mean right

I think Judy might be paying college

not going to tell you if you're right or

wrong until we get there but I like the

there's a knock at the front door at the

Woodson's house not the Westwoods house

um Riley is there yeah so apparently

Colin was riding his bike home from

school and Riley saw him and was like

maybe he's on his way to work I would

really love an in with pedal Productions

oh my God that's creepy that's not good

no like knocks on the door and is like

no sir yes and Madison is there too um

and like is and and like Riley's just

very like what's your damage like so I

what's the big deal that I cheated like

the race was a while ago it was like for

like I was cheating because it was for a

good cause because we were going to give

the money to homeboy's Mom right so like

that justifies it right just kind of

that energy yeah very gasy mhm but then

Madison is also like as long as I'm in

this house you'll never get in and then

Riley's kind of like wait you live here

and Madison's like oh he just thought we

worked she's like [ __ ] I [ __ ] up like

I just like gave away more details about

this whole situation than I should have

well but also like can we take a beat to

like as a therapist

right if somebody showed up at my

you see one of my friends I've heard

it feels like a violation right yeah

closed the request and never looked at

it again right versus someone showing up

thankfully like that place that I worked

was conscientious and so one of the

other bartenders had walked out with me

and so he was like

many pieces of identifiable information

if somebody showed up at my house I'd be

like do I need to move I'd also um want

this one may have been the mailbox one

at this point [ __ ] it there's a lot of

HOA fines um but Madison goes to like

the HOA like website and board and

starts pulling up their like numbers her

major is forensic accounting and her

whole thing is she's like numbers don't

lie like people

do um so she's like this feels weird and

I'm going to like dig into it a little

bit so she starts looking through some

things and like finding some anomalies

like text Scott cuz I guess a while um

like several months before because the

findes were getting so ridiculous

everyone had tried to oust Judy um and

but Judy caught wind of it and like the

other people on the board she's friends

with kind of energy so they she was able

to like circumvent it right

um the next plot snippet is that Madison

and Colin are on campus having lunch

with Madison sor sister Jen um and Jen

suddenly like trying to hide and she's

like oh my God I need like I he can't

see me there's a dude I hooked up with

it was messy it wasn't a good hookup I

just thought it was a one night stand he

kept blowing up my phone um and they

look over and realize it's Parker the

guy who' been parked outside of Judy's

house oh and um then Jen also says she's

like yeah it was so annoying um he

wouldn't stop talking about some like

baseball game he'd want to bet on and

they were like when did that happen

she's like about 3 weeks ago and they're

like starting to so Judy is uh

gambling

situation it seems like that like there

we still don't have all of and honestly

we never necessarily get all of the

details right um next plot snippet Colin

gets a text from Riley that he just like

he's like laying like middle of the

night asleep laying next to Madison um

gets a text opens that um Riley has sent

him an audition video that he would like

him to pass

on so again boundaries my guy yeah it's

just like it's not a problem for me to

send another man a video of me

masturbating very close up without

asking if it's

okay is this a uh

she's like someone tried to post our

real names in the comment section on our

videos no and it got caught in

moderation

um but our video has now been posted on

social media with our full names and our

address listed oh my God and because

Riley and Colin were

friends Riley tagged Colin on the post

like he couldn't tag Madison so like

they both reported the post but like

it's up yes it's up and it still takes a

while before it can be like taken down

so Colin kind of like goes to the

bathroom to like work on deleting those

things real fast and by the time he

comes back like the look on his dad's

face his dad is like has seen it yeah

it's like is this real is this true and

his dad is like you need to we're going

to go we're going to get your stuff

you're going to move home like like

there's no future for you there's no

roof over over your head if you don't

and col's kind of like I already have a

roof in my head that you're not

associated with right and so he just

like tells his dad's like okay well tell

mom goodbye like I'm sorry but like I

wish I could say it's been a pleasure

yeah but well cuz his dad is like is it

true did you star in a video and he's

like several right like he's like more

than one yeah not not going to pretend

otherwise just and my girlfriend is my

co-star suck on that yes yeah like so

he's like it's a bummer but he's kind of

like okay well like and he says to Dad

he's like I've been trying to be the

perfect son for the the past three years

Cassidy who is Preston that's girlfriend

dating his father lives at the house as

well and she was there and like makes

like some like comment about like

pressed in not being good and bed or

like just like making General jokes But

like everyone in the neighborhood

throughout the books shows up in the

other books yeah um so it was nice to

see Cassidy and be like Oh they've like

they've worked through this cuz like

like Preston was kind of like good one

like not like not offended not upset

about it just going like yeah like and

so the the fifth book in the series

actually just dropped in August I think

and that one's called the good girl

which is about Preston and Colin's

younger sister who wasn't actually in

this one at all um well I'm glad that

Preston finds love I'm assuming well and

honestly I'm like cuz there are five

books in the series and I was in my head

I'm like I think this is the last one

and like the series is done because it

kind of felt like the full circle like

Preston walked in on his dad and

ex-girlfriend in the first book is like

kind of like that drama um and like has

conversations with them in his book so

like I do think it is probably the final

book in the series but they all show

that way um Nina texts them when the

posts are are gone and down and then

Riley texts um Colin and is like yeah so

sorry I was like blackout drunk I didn't

remember posting it um I took it down as

soon as I like woke up and saw what I

like what had happened Go's like you

were blackout drunk before noon cuz

that's when these got posted like okay

they're they're gone whatever um a week

later there is an emergency HOA meeting

called uh oh yes um and Judy has called

it and when everyone shows up she's

like this meeting is for owners only and

Nina's like no worries we will revoke

our right to privacy like our mentores

and my mom didn't read the instructions

but it was in splotches all over my head

right this is like two days before prom

this happened and so I went to school in

tears like just like so upset like one

of those where you're like I wish my mom

would let me stay home from school with

how my hair is right now yes but my

boyfriend at the time he was like I

think he looks really good babe and I

was like shut up I hate you like so

hormonal and ridiculous but I did the

salon that I had been going to for years

opened early and it took like six or

seven stylists like pulling at my hair

and saying different colors and I wound

up with like maroon hair for prom which

could have been worse yeah right you're

like and you know it was at least it was

all Maroon yes it was all Maroon um but

I had bangs at the time too and my dress

was black so I just looked like Elvira

like I was very pale um but was very

pale I am very pale I'm like why why are

we saying that past tense girl was and

still am very pale but like that's the

energy you know where there's pale

people at the hway

meeting another segue another segue

we're killing the Segways

today I'm not I'm not at all um Judy

tries to start the meeting after she

tries to kick them out by being like

cool well um this couple misrepresented

what they were doing so we I like all in

favor of revoking their ability to like

have mentees living with them mhm say I

and someone actually seconds the motion

oh no and then Madison is like yeah so

like um but you didn't open the floor

for conversation before that and she was

like I don't I read the bylaws and

they're like we don't need to and she's

like oh well the vote doesn't count if

you don't open the floor so sorry

so now that the floor is open um I have

printed out spreadsheets um where it

looks like um maybe Judy has been

cooking the books um obviously this is

not quite how she she gave but um homeg

girl has stolen

$38,000 in fines because what Madison

noticed was that the fines that were on

the spreadsheet was like a couple

hundred bucks bucks she's like well that

can't be right like Scott and Nina alone

have had four-digit fines not three

digigit fines and they just one house in

the neighborhood um and so all of the

people who Liv in the neighborhood had

kind of like been like these are all the

fines we got what fines did you get and

combining them to like equal about

$388,000 but when Madison was looking at

the books there was a legal like the

lawyer the legal office that they keep

on retainer their fee kept going going

up like each month it would get higher

and there and then um when they called

that firm was like we've never done any

business we've never heard of you yeah

we are we do not like represent your

HOA um yeah so then um everyone's like

well Judy if you sell your house and

just get the [ __ ] out we won't press

charges we won't press charges can

please return the money and and she's

like I don't have the money they're like

you will if you sell your house and

she's like they're like you think that's

the worst of what's going to happen to

you you've been making all of our lives

hell you've been in our yards we have

spent thousands upon also what like what

a level of privilege that there were

$38,000 stolen from all of these people

total and they're like it's fine if we

don't get it back just like get the [ __ ]

out right like that's a specific level

of affluence if you're like a couple

thousand in fines each month you're like

it's okay if I see that again right just

wanted to note that right um but

everyone ends up rallying around them

and people even say they're

like nah and Scott are not like taking

advantage of unsuspecting at risk youth

they're like right these are like 21 23y

they're making their own choices like

frats the best and he's like I want to

use that like time to like come clean to

lied about you and Colin so can you come

to the pregame Rush Event so that like I

you'll like will you guys come so I can

apologize in front of everyone I feel

suspicious yes yes you're

like okay yeah this feels weird yeah um

why as to go grab coffee

why you know you know the exact coffee

you know why yeah I do the post breakup

one of them wants to get back together

one postmortem yes one of them is trying

to get back together one is reinforcing

that we aren't getting back together the

inevitable coffee that everyone has the

coffee you I do I know I was like let's

not pretend yeah I know um so Colin goes

with Madison and Jack is like not

thrilled in Colin the whole time it's

like this clearly is not going how he

hoped it would go um but Jack apologizes

to Madison um for lying and cheating on

her but then he also is like I want to

warn you um when we were doing the

presentations I accidentally clicked on

Riley's folder instead of mine and um he

is not

apologizing he uploaded one of y'all's

clips and plans on showing it um and

Jack's like the [ __ ] idiot uploaded

porn to the school server nice exactly

there you go um so we're at the rush

week event Riley starts his

speech um and Colin had said to Jack

he's like can you like get me his like

access to his clip and his footage and

so Colin cut it and got the um ring

camera footage from when Riley showed up

on their door and admitted to cheating

and lying um but it had started where

like Riley like thought he' pulled it

off where it was their um Colin and

Madison's audition video and like

they've each like taken off their shirt

um and everyone's like whooping and

Sheeran and then it cuts to Riley

confessing not knowing like yeah um that

clip and then it cuts to a zoomed in

shot not of his dick because it was on

the school server but of his audition

video like a closeup of his face um and

everyone in the audience is kind of like

ew not into it um but like when Madison

and Colin had had been on screen

everyone's like [ __ ] yeah take it off

take it off and on Riley's video they're

like

gross so Riley was like super

embarrassed slams the computer takes off

right um everyone

apologizes it's going to be taken to the

bo not that they're like joining their

frat or sorority again but like we're so

sorry like we're clearing Nam yes where

he's going to be removed from the Frat

like you don't even need to take it to

the board we're just going to vote him

out kind of energy um and then we're at

the epilog well okay right it was like a

lot of sex and then she's like well now

that I'm done with sex guess I'll get

into the plot it's very much how I felt

with this one right and the epilogue is

like they have their own place they're

no longer living with Scott and Nina

they still work for them um and have

their little like family of porn stars

and they're on their way to Scott and

nah to shoot a group scene before

Thanksgiving

dinner and they're they're living

happily celebrate for them and saving up

for a used car because she's going to be

graduating and that's how the book ends

is them just like happily living their

a great place yeah I feel good about

that

option I like I would recommend the read

it's not one that like I'm going to

scream from the rooftops you know it

wasn't a life Cher but it was enjoyable

and it also had some like different

factors and facets and I a lot of the

books we read do and it was a lot more

open it didn't sound like the central

plot was like oh we're having sex with

other people it's like the conversation

they have at the restaurant on their

first date it's like when they about

like so what would that look like and he

and he's like okay well if you would

feel better if like we only shot scenes

together that could be an option if you

want to be present when I'm shooting my

scenes and I can be present when you're

shooting yours like mhm if you just want

to watch the scene afterwards but he's

like I don't own your body and like yeah

um I'm okay with us like being sexually

open right um because I do think that

there was like a passive thing where

like not shooting a scene once they were

together like she was like [ __ ]

jaquin and he was in the room or

something like yeah like a three

sentence kind of passive thing um so

yeah I do appreciate the open MH

accepting like what I appreciated is

that and maybe I'm definitely like

projecting this because I feel this a

lot myself I think because I grew up in

a very conservative household mhm

there's a lot of things that like I

would just own I don't know yeah um yeah

but I also feel like people sometimes

assume that you not knowing something

they like automatically jump to how

you'll feel about something right that

means you're going to judge it oh if

you're not already in the know about

this then clearly and I'm like no just

like there are things I just like never

happened across just like how like my

life has played out right and so I think

that like keeping that kind of thought

process in mind as far as like oh no I

just cuz I'm not familiar with something

like I oh this is new information okay

I've interpreted it I cool I and now

we're going to move forward and I kind

of feel like that's how the book went

like she like moments where you're like

okay like this is a new thing that

doesn't mean it's bad it doesn't mean

like I can't handle it it just means

it's new right um and and they are

moving forward and open but also in a

way that is safe and supportive if we

don't want to move in that direction

again exactly I'm going to say 32 32
